How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

last 2 days has been 2 of 3.
Austra seems to have stopped laying.
So far, one egg today, but the laying day is not over.
half wonder if the snake incident has anything to do with it.
I'd figure they' would forget in a day or two...

That's very possible.. Snakes can scare chickens and it may have traumatized her . Just give her some time :).. Also be sure to check and make sure she isn't egg bound instead.

I think she's getting six or eight eggs a day from her hens, and buying a dozen every other day at the store to supplement and make up the difference.
If she had hens consistently laying two a day she could sell them to the huge egg companies for a fortune, they'd be cloning the DNA.
:lau

That's what I was thinking! I've always wondered about her...she told a few people who were going to buy eggs from me.. if/when they start, that she would sell them half price! They re good friends tho...!

Thanks!

Two yesterday but only one today. Somebody isn't laying the last few days.... and I think it is the best looking hen. Except for today little 'red neck bully' has been the consistant one laying every day.

I am not sure how to check for egg bound.
I have heard of it, but not the how to....
I have the general idea of the internal anatomy, except for a minor detail.
I do not know if the vagina is under the anal tract, or over it.
Under would be logical, but I am mainly familiar with mammals.
I raise a few goats and sheep, and have 3 donkeys, don't breed the donkeys (yet).
they laid two eggs a day, till yesterday, when Austra came through, finally.
So was 3 for 3.
At least this tells me she is not egg bound.... Yay!!!

I should add that I have to act as my own vet for most stuff.
Kinda hard to take my critters to the vets....
For a while I was beginning to wonder if she had stopped for the summer.
We have 2 seasons here, a short winter and a long summer...
