10/12 but will be getting one from now on. My lab caught one of my reds today. That makes chicken number 4 since I started raising chickens last Easter.

I got our lab to stop killing chickens by getting an elector fencer and wrapping the wire around the head of the last killed chicken and turning it on it only took him 3 times of trying to get the chicken and now he runs from them. He thinks there all going to get him. Lol

i have a lab x staffie who is fantastic with the birds. She sits with the chicks and licks their bums and shares whatever food i give to the chickens. She dosent get on with the ducks because one of my big drakes chases her around.

2 from 3 hens today. Unfortunately I broke 1 of the 2 in my pocket while I was holding one of the roosters trying to see what color the bottom of his feet are. Well the dog was happy, she got an egg with her dog food

I'm not sure how she died she was under the coop laying in the straw. I have plastic around the bottom of the coop to keep out the wind and snow and she seemed fine the night before. She was a Light Brahma so she was supposed to be very cold hearty. I disposed of her body in the outdoor wood stove. I'm keeping an eye on the rest to see if I notice anything wrong.

Hopefully everything is okay in your flock. Is the weather better yet?

It was in the 20's today and tomorrow is supposed to be the same but Monday we are supposed to be really cold a high of -15 low of -37. The rest of the flock seems okay.It could be she was just not as healthy as the rest and the cold was just to much for her.
