0 eggs, 3 Fri, 1 Thurs. I thought they were out of molt but no a few still are in it.

Buff Orpington
White leghorn

8/14 yesterday and 5 and a soft shell so far today.

Just found a hen in a compost heap, after seeing she wasn't in the hen house. Lifted her up and found 20(!!!) eggs.

Did a water test for freshness, and they all sank horizontally- meaning all are fresh.

What does this mean?! Is it possible for a chicken to lay 20 eggs? We've only been getting eggs for a week from two other or the 7birds....

Thoughts?

I would be inclined to believe that your girls may be hoodwinking you. Someone decided that where you found the eggs was a good spot and others followed suit.

4 this morning. First one of the morning was surprisingly in a different nesting basket (first time for that), the other 3 were all in the same bin again lol
