18 eggs today. The girls enjoy the weeds & a few occasional worms from my garden as I get it ready to plant. I've planted some tomato plants, only to have them killed by frost. So I must be more patient.

1 egg from the free range chickens, but I did get home late and I really did not look all that much as I was really tired

Todays little wonder was running all over the incubator so I had to hold it down so this chick was just not to happy to have it's photo taken

Do you leave your eggs in egg turner until they hatch? I take mine out at lockdown. Maybe thats why I have such bad luck hatching.

This lady hatch at Easter I decided to hand roll my eggs. No egg turner. I had a few wonky air called eggs from shipping so they sat upright the whole time. 7/9 of those hatched fine sitting in a carton.
The ones I rolled around a few times a day all but 4 hatched. I had a total of 39 chicks hatch. I figured that a hen can't turn eggs exactly 1/4-1/2 turn each time so I wanted to try as natural as possible. That and the fact that they lay flat in a nest.
Best hatch ever.

8/15 so far. I have been weeding the onion patch and giving the girls the weeds. Even found a couple of grubs for them!
