How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Pretty stoked to get 2 today.

7 eggs of 11 girls so far today. Looks like fall is finally here, the girls are slowing down, week average looks to have dropped by a full egg a day. Of course black betty is on break for her molt, Mildred has finally backed off to 1 egg every 2 days. Still watching the other 3 for signs of molting. My 6 first years are still keeping up the count but the 4 EE in that bunch seem to be slowing down for business a bit too.

Oh... and Mildred, she had large bald patches on her neck from before we got her last year. When she started molting I could see there were many broken feather around the bald spots. She has finally grown most of her neck feathers back and no longer has bald spots, (ok her chest is bare now instead, lol). Good new though her molting gives us a more accurate age. She was a stray and all we knew at the time was she was already laying. We found her early Oct and she never molted that first winter. I thought becuase she started molting mid summer she might have been an early molter, but in fact her molt is so slow she's still molting. All in all it tells us she's probably around 18months-2years old, which is about the same as the rest of the older flock mates

ok 8 today of 18 need to note that I have
one EE that
gives me the mondo egg at least 3
times a week others are normal

From 23 yesterday to 26 today! We finally made the 2 dozen goal. My wife is so happy.

Got 1 more, total 8 of 11. But it was in interesting find. It looks like it dropped or got stuck early in the shelling process there is 1 almost round part with a very thin shell over it. There is one spot with a bit of a ripple that looks like it tried to turn but pulled while the shell was still soft.
I've only had 1 shell-less and I didn't actually get to see it till after the dog started eating it.

I have had a few but seemed to straighten out with no problem

Funny I found 5 eggs and then I found a nest of 7 more eggs off by themselves

Temp 87F degrees and a light 10MPH wind to help keep the temp down otherwise it was so hot in the car with the windows up I had to turn on the AC and with the windows down the wind was unbearable .
