I have a Red Star, Black Australorp, Barred Rock, 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Lavender Orpingtons, and an old English Game Bantam. I don't supplement with light, either. I figure they need the rest over winter (which is only about 8 - 10 weeks, here). My OEGB just came off of a broody spell (about two/three weeks). -made us laugh, that at seven she still thought she needed to sit on eggs and be a mama. She was never a good broody (would only sit about three days) when she was young. Hoot! That is amazing!! What breeds do you have? I'm hoping that my older breeds will have long laying lives (kind of figure my 'layers' I got to get us going will peter out pretty quickly!) - I've already decided not to give them extra light in the winter or anything - just let them do thier natural thing!
