Hopefully some of my new layers hatched at that time will also lay eggs before winter since am having molters left and right, wife’s friends are “demanding” eggs like crazy.
How in the world you remember that ions ago convo about the feathered legs? Thanks for the info though, am beginning to think Real French Black Copper Marans in France doesn’t have feathered legs.

It wasn't that long ago and I was really confused as to why mine didn't (although if you remember I did read that both exist here!) so it stuck with me! Sorry that is me being tired - yes I meant leg feathers not feet feathers! They are still running around a bit wild (small chickens fit through my day run!) so don't get very close to them and been soooooo busy lately! I'll try to get some pics. I have the Black Copper Marans that you divined to be a boy when I asked and there is a lovely blue one as well (which I'm hoping is a girl!). My sole chick from my latest hatch is also a Marans so will wait and see what I get (would love a BCM female - so will probably be a blue splash male!).Glad it isn't just me waiting on new girls to lay - is it likely or should I just expect spring for first eggs?
3/3 today (although I realised I've left 2 down the garden so may have lost them by tomorrow
)
