That is how it was with mine. Do you have a rooster? Could she be sitting on fertile eggs? Not the case here.


Why would a broken egg in the nest wreck the rest?

They got egg on all the other eggs. They are then sticky, covered in dirt, dust, shavings, poop. The seven I had originally put in for the one trying to go broody had been abandoned, I was just hoping she would change her mind. It was a large egg that was broken, maybe more than one, and every egg was sticky and filthy.

3 eggs yesterday, it's like they knew the weather was going to be terrible (blizzard!). Either that or everybody laid their eggs next to the broody.

Only up to 8 from 1 and 2 coops 1 from silkie but cleaned their coop down to bare floor

Then you'll likely see her in a few weeks with a little flock of chicks in tow!

10 today. I let my FBCM that went broody out of jail today. Hopefully she won’t violate her parole by going broody again or she’ll have to go back to jail.
