Did you ever get chicks from her? And are you keeping the breed line? She is a Salmon Faverolles yes! It’s kind of a goofy pic. She is my oldest hen, will be 5 years old May 5.
She is a hatchery bird and I don’t have any cocks so she’s not been bred. She also has never been broody, in fact she is very hostile to younger birds when I get new pullets! Fortunately for them she is clumsy and slow!Did you ever get chicks from her? And are you keeping the breed line?
That’s exactly (eggzactly?) what it is! I have a couple new layers and they are making a big mess in the nests before they lay. I have rubber liners, but I think the wood on the front was the culprit. My 2 cracked eggs were from them dropping the eggs onto the wooden box. They had moved so much straw around that it left the floor bare. Only reason I know this is because I was there when the 2nd one was laid (dropped). I haven't had that problem after putting rubber shelf liners on the bottoms, underneath the straw.
