Just have her make another - and wear one fore and one aft!My mum made me an apron with little pockets for each egg - 18 pockets.
Only problem is I get 20, 22 even 23 eggs a day. Gonna need a bigger apron!
If you don't get a cockerel out of the next batch, I'll wager you can find someone who has one looking for his own harem!Got 6. I am anxiously awaiting for the new chicks to start laying. I'm also hoping that I have at least one rooster from the new 6.
Not yet. She's sitting on stolen eggs, so that one was likely from the first batch she hijacked. She has four more swiped eggs that are either duds or should hatch in the next day or two, then she has the nine from the Easter Hatch-along. They're "due" Saturday. I may just pull them all tomorrow to candle. If any are any ready to go immediately, I'll 'bator those and let her finish out her own for the weekend. I'm wondering if the first chick just hatched so early that it threw her off as an intruder. This has been one seriously mixed up game of "Musical Eggs!"Just wondering if you solved this mystery.
Unfortunately, no. This little thief has eggs stolen from at least two different nests. I'm thinking the first chick must have been an earlier (third) set. When that one hatched so far ahead of the others, it was likely pushed out as an intruder and disappeared. Poor Baby.Same here. Did you find the little lost chick?
I hear you, I would love a couple of dark Brahma. But I am at capacity here and can’t possibly take on any more.2 eggs yesterday
My Australorp bantam is broody and she is so determined. I can hear she is rolling the 2 unfertilized eggs I gave her. End of this week I will remove her from broodiness, by then she will have completed 2 weeks of broodiness. A break from egg laying as she has been laying 4/5 eggs a week for the last 6 months.
I do so want to buy some quails eggs for her to hatch out, so so so badly want to, but I must constantly reminded myself that this is all the chickens I can cared for, anymore I will not be able to do it.
Seeing mother hen with her new babies and how she cared for them is really wonderful, I love this so much.
