5 today. Whole lot of molting going on. they seem to be contagious once one starts they all.join in.

1 if I'm lucky, 2 out of 5 are molting, 2 are just being freeloaders, and 1 is laying, smdh

Ours seem to do a relay with molting. One starts then passes the baton off to another two weeks later. It's been a continuous stream of molting since the first started in October. Still have 5 of 13 to go

2-3 eggs a day from 12 layers. The two Wyandottes and one Buff Orpington are the only remaining contributors. Had to crack open the first water glassing jar yesterday to make breakfast since we have guests.

My Rouens molt together at a sensible time (fall), then my Muscovies wait until it gets incredibly cold before starting their molts. Instead of doing a relay, they choose a section of feathers to lose together, regrow those, then move onto the next section. This year was neck/head feathers, then their undersides, then flight feathers, then their tails. They are currently regrowing wing feathers and tails. It’s almost January and they are far less cold tolerant than their Rouen sisters. Not at all sensible molting behavior.

9 eggs from 30 hens. about half my hens are +3 years old.

So far 2 today out of 3 laying hens , one finishing up molt. Not bad since it's shortest days and only 2F outside!

Boy that's cold. We're having spring on Jan 1. But going back into winter starting tomorrow night.
