How many of you have your chicks in your house?

All winter at any given time I have had chicks and ducklings in my living room. Just put 5 bantams out in their new coop that have been inside all winter. At one point last month I had 31 in the house am down to 10 now and plan on getting more babies in the next couple of weeks. So if its not right then I am not right too.

My 7 are still in the house at 5+ weeks but now spend nice days outside in a big chain link kennel pending completion of coop. Yes, they are getting much harder to keep clean, but they do not smell. They are exhausted at day's end and seem to sleep all night. I would raise the next (small) batch indoors too, despite the mess. It has been great for socializing them. Time for spring cleaning, anyway.

6 in the house, 16 in the garage. when old enough they will go outside.

All 4 of my girls are in the house. I have them in an extra large dog kennel. We haven't even started to build the coop yet. The chicks are 2 and 3 weeks old.

I have 12 2 week olds in my basement. Even if it was warm enough for them outside it is so convenient for watching them!

Ours started out inside the house (in our office) but by a week old my husband and I couldn't stand their smell anymore So they went to the garage...

I have four 3 day old chicks in a large dog cage. They will stay until they are 4 weeks old, then replaced by more chicks that will be hatching. They are on their own table in the spare room. And yes, it's easier to look over them when they are in the house.

Maybe I'm going about it all wrong, but we have already built a brand new, 4'x8' coop. I temporarily partitioned off half of it, hung the heat lamp, layed down the shavings, got the food and water out there, and moved in the new tenants. They are 2 1/2 weeks old. Heat light stays on each night, even though the temps only drop to the 50's and 60's, but it goes off durning the day.
The coop is locked up tighter than a prison. We have had some amazingly warm weather here in Oklahoma, so my wife has been opening the pop door up when the temp warms up each day. They LOVE it!! They run up and down the temporary ramp going from the run to the coop. They definately know where "home" is. When someone comes around the corner, and they get a little startled, they haul tail feathers up the ramp and inside the coop. Then, immediately run right back out.

Yup, me too! Just took 9 outside to their coop last week and they were raised in our dining room. We have two in the dining room right now that are only 2-3 weeks old. Very dusty, but worth it! To each his own I guess.
