We live at the edge of a subdivision that I've dubbed a "homestead sub" b/c most residents live on 3-5 acre lots. We live on the edge and own 3 in, 3 out for a total of 6. But nearly everyone has a combination of poultry/garden/orchard/grape arbor/goats. We have poultry, garden & orchard. Our neighbors have poultry/garden/goats, etc... There are 4 roosters within 1/3 mile of one another.
The woman next door came over one morning to help me with fencing and another neighbor stopped by. The woman introduced herself to the other neighbor and asked if her goats blatting at feeding time bothered him. "I haven't heard any goats," he said. "All I hear is roosters."
The 4 roosters, BTW, are named Jake, Sam, Fred and Bill. I think they should have their own sitcom.
