How much did you spend on your coop? **Update with pics on pg. 12**

Well, I hate to say it but my DH did not want to use salvage or scrap materials 'cause if he's gonna build it, he wants it done "right"! I did talk him into using a fiberglass sheathing for the floor that I found at an RV salvage store but that was it!

We made so many trips to Menards that the store clerks knew we were the coop people on site! I'm sure we have about $500-$600 wrapped up into the coop and PVC run. Check out my BYC page for more details!

My coop costed me nothing it was a shed i cleaned up at the back of my property. I ended up spending like $30 on steples and welded wire though.
 
I talk to a lot of reporters who ask about the great cost savings raising your own chickens and I tell them it is rarely the case.

I DO tell them the overall value is higher: Better eggs from happier chickens that provide as much or more entertainment than other pets. The whole package is probably cost savings compared to other pets, forms of entertainment, etc.
