How much did you spend on your coop? **Update with pics on pg. 12**

My coop was initially just the cost of a roll of chicken wire as we used scrap lumber to convert an old swing set into the coop (someday I will post pics). I then bought posts, wire, hardware cloth and deer netting for a run, then added on a second coop, then hired a local guy to build a clear roof over a section of the run. Then I added the solar japanese lanterns and tibetan temple bells and built a fancy bamboo gate for the whole operation. After that I had to landscape around it so that the whole thing would look aesthetically pleasing and now AI am thinking about adding a separate compound for the silkies. Sh*& oh dear!

$16 for a blower fan. The 12x16 portable building was given to me by my step dad. He paid $100 for it. The ladders and roosts came from boards and 2x2's from their deck that they just rebuilt. I put in a $3 thermometer and spent about $3 on the nails to hold the roosts in place. That's it. Not counting the waterers and feeders of course. Going to add roof vents soon to blow the hot air out of the top. It will probably be solar powered.

Ut oh. You got me there. I have a 72" Hitachi wide screen. But I got it 3 years before I had any chickens. How many eggs would I have had sell to pay for one now?

I have spent as little as $15 for a small tractor and as much as $100 on a large Tractor. Prices vary depending on what I have to buy and the specs of the coop.

Cody!!

We've spent maybe $1500 to $2000 dollars on a little 6X6 coop. Don't ask.

If ever a hurricane comes I'm taking refuge in the coop. A lot of the money is in miles and miles of hardware cloth because we live in a very predator-rich area.

You must have a very understanding spouse. If I spent that much, I would be living in the coop.

I pretty much do what I want. But at least you can tell your husband you haven't spent nearly as much as some people!
