how much do you charge for your eggs?

I charge $2.00 a dozen for mine, and I've had no complaints. What I do is give little half dozens for people to try for free if they show interest, and so far, they always ask for more! I've got brown eggs and green eggs and people seem to love that!

I don't have alot of excess, but it's always fun to get a few bucks here and there. I put it in the chicken money jar.

I do give alot to family for free of course.

My MIL gives me $1.85, but I really don't care. She's family, and I really don't expect ANYTHING, but she insists. It helps pay for feed. My boss at work gives me $2.00. He really LOVES my girl's eggs

In my area, they go for about $2.00 a dozen, more in the off season.... I don't have enough hens right now to make any money selling extra eggs, so I just give the rest to family members. Yeah, the neighbor's dog kept killing my hens. The dog has been.... eliminated, so my birds are safe... next year should be better for eggs.

I have not started my flock or started selling eggs, but in my area (Western Washington) I pay about $4.30 for a small-scale local farm's free ranged eggs, and $5.50 for organic pastured local eggs.

I live in southern Maine. I have been charging $2 per dozen but I am going to raise my price to $2.50 per dozen. A friend of mine, who lives about 15 minutes from me, sells hers for $3 per dozen. The local health food store sells araucana eggs for $5.50 for a half a dozen!!! That's why I have ordered some araucanas chicks.

I sell my free-range eggs at our local farmer's market for $4.00 for large, $4.25 for extra large and $4.50 for jumbo. Our hens are free-range (we open the door and they have access to the whole farm). I don't bring anything that is more than 10 days old. I also sell at church. I usually have about 5-6 doz. to sell each week, and I sell them all. When the market closes in October, my prices may go down for the winter, as I don't anticipate reduced egg production (we use a light), and I may end up with a fridge full of eggs again.

I'm starting to run low on cartons. If I have to start buying them, I'm going to have to increase my egg prices. I already have a stall at the market to sell other things, so I don't factor that cost into the cost of my eggs.

Roadside signs in our neighbourhood advertise prices from $2.50 and up, but I always sell all my eggs at the market. One factor is convenience: people don't want to have to pull into a roadside stand or go up to a farmer's house to get their eggs. Freshness and free-range could also be a factor: at the market people can ask me about my chickens and how I raise them, and I have an opportunity to tell them when the eggs were laid. Each carton is labled with the size, price and date of harvest. Our regional health board requires that I lable the cartons, wash the eggs and keep them chilled during transport and at the market.

I wanted to sell @the local farmer's ,arket, but beaurocracy has crept into it around here. they require all vendors to accept food stamps AND credit cards... which means getting a buisiness license. Yea, i'm not willing to go through the hassle just to sell eggs... I use craigslist, and word of mouth advertising... suits me just fine... when I have extras to sell.
