Hey guys. I have 30 week old quail for sale and am wondering what should I price them? I have looked on craigslist and facebook for pricing around me but people only have eggs, day old chicks, and fully grown birds. Eggs are going for around 3$ to 4$ a dozen, chicks are going for 1$ to 2$ a piece, and adults are going for 4$ to 8$ a piece depending on color. My pen includes normal color, texas a@m, italian, and white with brown patches that i pid 4$ a piece for all breeding at random. My first batch i kept and they are all about to start laying and I got a few mystery colors I do not have parents of so im not for sure where they came from. I will get pics for id tomorrow. Any ways my new batch is a week going on 2 weeks old so I want to know what i should price them at? TIA

I split the difference at $2 up to a week old, $3 at up to two weeks old, $4 up to three weeks old, and $5 3+ weeks old and weaned off the heat lamp. I charge $5 for straight run or males at that age and $8 for laying females (most of mine you can't sex until ~5+ weeks).

Alright 3$ it is! Thanks! Do you know of any good reference site to show quail colors? I have one quail who was red with stripes as a baby. Now he is redish brown all over. His feather marking are not as strong as a pharoh and has no yellow. Ill have to get a pic. He is my favorite!

They're all super super incomplete :/ Post pics here and we can guess!

The best way i sell things is by example saying $3 each OR $25/10
Or whatever, people like a deal is my point!
I scoured the Internet when ibfirst got into quail, there are some out there i will try to see if i have any decent ones bookmarked, but it will be easier just to post pics, besides we love looking at chicks!

Does anybody have any problems selling their quail and what kind of numbers are you doing? How do most of your birds sell? Meaning, do you sell more young straight run, mature males for meat or hens for the eggs?

I'm getting ready to build an incubator that'll hold close to 1000 eggs at once and curious as to how difficult people find it to sell their quail.

Thank you

I think it really depends on your local market and how far a radius you're willing to meet people, but I am sold the frigg out except for males (and they're even reserved for processing), and running waitlists on everything trying to fill bigger orders.

Im the opposite! I have trouble selling, I'm in a very small farming town, mostly I sell hatching eggs and people like adult hens of course. Chicken chicks sell great around here though...
