My Light Brahma finally, finally, FINALLY laid, just shy of 26 weeks!!!!!

She spent DAYS checking out the egg boxes and wandering around seeming distressed. Today, I caught her in the egg box really working at it, and I think I even heard the egg come out

but I sure am glad she finally passed that puppy!

Congratulations! I have one light brahma who has not laid yet. She is 20 1/2 weeks old. They must be late bloomers.

She's the biggest hen I own too. My husband had a talk with her and told her she was slacking since the tiniest bird (golden comet) was the first to lay at 16 weeks.

We've had them lay first from 16 weeks to almost 30 weeks in the past. This year only one of the pullets has started laying thus far.

I have a hen and rooster, and the brahmas were the slowest by far to feather out. The rooster even had a bare tail area forever. They are VERY slow maturing. But the light brahma hen is simply gorgeous!
