This morning I picked up 10 Easter egger chicks from the local natural pet center which I had preordered with the intention of keeping four and giving the rest to the veterinarian I work with. She doesn’t care which ones she gets, and now I’m faced with Sophie’s choice: how to choose among so much cuteness?

My 10 year old son, who helps out a lot with the chickens, chose this one and the one below - so two left for me to pick.

I don’t even know where to begin, though I will say that the derp face on that last chick is pretty appealing. Help me choose!

Six chicks went off to their new home, leaving the two my son chose, and.....

Number 1, who was the lightest color of the bunch. I figured since my two 5 week old EEs are feathering out pretty dark, it might be fun to have a totally different color (they were both chipmunk chicks), and, to no one’s surprise...

Darling Derp, as she will be called, who rallied overnight and is now holding her own with the rest of the crew.
