HA! WOW. That would be disgusting...

In all seriousness though, I find it disgusting that people are so greedy and self-centered and rude! I guess, like someone said, if you don't have chickens you don't realize how much work they are. People seem to assume that chickens just do their thing and require nothing in return -- or that it's just a fun hobby -- and while it may be a fun hobby, it's also a job and something that costs us money for feed, litter, and labor!

I've received free eggs from neighbors before my girls started laying, and I was always grateful and would never consider asking for them. I plan to pass on the kindness to other neighbors and friends... but if they ever ask for them, I will inform them of the price and explain that regular egg deliveries only go to paying customers.

Now, if it were a trade, that would be a different thing... maybe you should call your neighbor and start asking every other day for a meal/scarf/quilt/etc...

I am very sorry to hear someone is taking advantage of your kindness and generosity. I understand times are hard but that isn't a reason to call constantly wanting free eggs. Especially that many in a week. Are they really eating that many eggs?

You've had some great advice. If it was me next time they called I would explain that you don't have any available at the moment that you have paying customers you need to fill orders for and also your own family to feed but if they'd like to buy some in the future you'd be happy to put them on your waiting list.

I have someone locally that I've given several dozen eggs to over the past few months. They have thanked me but never offered to pay for them (but they also haven't asked me for eggs, I just give them when I have extras). Then last week I offered a dozen to my mailman who immediately wanted to pay me for them but I told him they were a gift for taking such good care of my mail.

Be honest, Tell them your selling the eggs for 2.00 a doz. helps pay for the feed. If they get bent out of shape.
they are not good neighbers..Hey I did give away a few doz. until I heard they were being resold, LOL sappy me...
So now its Fresh Eggs...
cash only no money orders , no credit cards and no checks
and come pick'm up no deliverys LOL

Personally Hennys I think they are selling your eggs!....stop giving freebies .....if they ask for anymore. apologise and say aorry you have orders to fill........
