Hi fellow Duck lovers,
Its breeding time and our female ducks are laying. There is a large open pond at the end of the communal Gardens (so no fencing). There are a nice mix of both wild, and our own raised ducks living there, and built a house for them to lay in which they are now doing.
Cats each year have a reputation for preying on the ducklings around the pond - so my question is, what suggestions for cat repellents do you use that is safe for ducks and their foraging habits?
I have researched but would welcome the ideas from everyone.
Lion Dung - This is apparently hit & miss with Cats but is it harmful to ducks?
Citronella Pellets - I hear are great for deterring Cats but Citrus is poisonous/toxic to ducks so apprehensive
Anti Cat/Dog pellets - Do these harm/deter Ducks also?
Any suggestions would be amazing!
as i dont want the ducklings picked off the moment they are off the pond.
