I have been treating my pullet for an impacted crop since Tuesday. I keep her in a cage (when I'm not holding her and cuddling her) so that she can't eat other stuff. I give her 3cc of mineral oil 3 times a day (as directed by the local "chicken lady"). I massage her crop afterward. I provide her with plenty of fresh water. I give her a small amount of mushy feed with oil as well. I was told to this so as not to completely deprive her of protein and not send her into molt.
Today she is really gassy. You can feel gas bubbles in the upper area of her crop. She is moving her neck around. I know that moving her neck like that is "normal" when they have a problem with their crop, but she looks uncomfortable. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to make her more comfortable. Does anyone have any idea how long this will take to clear up? I think she probably ate a rock that was a little too big. They don't really have access to anything else.
Please HELP! She looks so pathetic I just can't stand it!
