How to get husband in gear to build coop

Unplug the internet and claim its a "maintenance outage". That's how I got my coop done!

I am more than capable of doing most of the projects I come up with by myself, but when I do want help my tried and true method is to plug in the circular saw, pull the trigger a bit and he comes running. He doesn't mind me using the other power tools--nail gun, sander, drill..., but when it come to the saw he is always there in the nick of time.

Bring home some chicks! We didn't start the coop until they were a month old.

. That should get the ball rolling.

Bianca,

I am the proud owner of 8 pullets and a very fine coop that I pretty much made all by myself. I recruited a friend (also female) who had a bit more experience with power tools and said that if she helped me build the coop and contributed the cost of two of the chicks, a quarter of the eggs produced would be hers. She helped me get started and also came back a few weeks later and spent a day helping me build the run. Otherwise, it was pretty much all up to me.

My husband works an extremely long work week, usually gone from early Monday morning until late Friday night and often spending a large chunk of his weekend working as well. I wasn't going to nag him about spending his weekend working on MY hobby. Besides, I got a great deal of satisfaction doing the work myself. Good luck.

I just came home from the feed store with some chicks one day. After a week he got busy because he didn't like the chicks in the house...lol We bought our coop from a local guy and we built the run together.

Very easy, if he needs any new tools or new toys, tell him ( oh I have seen what you want at lablablab store) do you think we can get it and may be you can use it for the new coop?

My ploy was to find several large coops which cost a small fortune (£1200plus....hopeless at conversion) and ask his opinion as to which was the best.....

Worked like a dream. I now have a lovely new coop made entirely by him and a regular reminder of 'how much money he saved'.
