How to Grow a Blueberry Bush

Funny, I can remember the big pear tree out the kitchen window-- but dont remember what we did with all the pears. It was not an every year provider though I remember one year it had a bumper crop.

Bet the pear jam is wonderful. yum!
We planted a second pear tree last year hoping that one would produce then the other.

I have never made or tried pear jam I just found a recipe for it.

I want to plant a couple pears this fall. Maybe my favorite tree fruit.

Our big pear tree has a lot of damage to the trunk and termites have eaten a lot of it but I have been fertilizing it like crazy over the last few years and this year it is looking alot better new growth and lots of pears. If you live in cold enough climate you can store pears in the garage all winter. They are wonderful! It is one of my favorites also.

I have huckleberry seeds-- a few hundred -- I'm thinking this is too late in the season to start these as it suggests sowing indoors 6-8 weeks before they can be set out doors.

How should I store these??

I have never tried a bosc pear I guess.
This damaged pear is the only one we have at right now that produces fruit. It will likely be another 2 yeas before our other trees start producing fruit.

I would store you huckleberry seeds in the fridge till spring. I think huckleberry's are an annual.

WIll do on the huckelberies then. I have no idea if they are annuals-- might be a one shot deal then.

I was looking at the raspberries starting up everywhere I dont want them-- can I dig them up and move them???? WIll I need to say a all of prayers with this method??

You should not have a problem moving the raspberries as long as you keep them watered.

We had one raspberry clutch with maybe ten branches last fall. We split it four ways, and now we have the same size clutches in each spot, and some branches have shown up between them too. It really does grow quickly. If I've understood correctly, the first year it just grown a branch, the second and third year you get berries, and then it dies, so they actually keep putting out new branches all the time.

RIght , it is a two year process. I just wasn't sure how upset they would get if moved. Some plants dont like to be moved. Ahhh, so much work to do.

Off to find the tomatos in the foot tall weeds!

We just harvested the top layer of one of our tater towers. Might wait a bit longer until we try again, but for tonight, it's homegrown new potatoes, grilled salmon and a creme fraiche sauce with herbs from our garden (basil, thyme and chives, plus some store bought salt, pepper and a dash of sugar).
