How to handle with person selling sick birds *RESULTS IN *

She says she has a strict biohazard practice. However she will take whatever she can flip and resell. How is that for biohazard? Norco is a small town, so my question is was 200.00 worth this to her ? Guess so. She makes plenty of money off people who are learning and drive past her house. Wonder how many honest trusting people shes done this too. I want to thank a special friend who took the birds to the lab. The dead bird and the live one ,so guess the city now will be checking into her selling practice.

Yes it does. Leaves a bad taste in ones mouth. I know there are honest people out there. What makes me mad is people telling me I cant speak the truth and warn people. I am sorry but I would want warned if I didn't know. Funny how its ok to post positive things but not when people do very unethical practices its not ok to speak. I am not the one who was ripped off. I know better, however there is many people out there wanting to learn and raise beautiful birds and have to start someplace. Can we really just stand by and let them get ripped and do nothing when we see it go on ? There are many honest , wonderful sellers so warning people to me is the right thing to do.if that wrong then sorry. I honestly hope my friend files with the court as well I will be telling her to do so.

Never said you can't. All I said in your other thread is that you should be careful what you post online, since the seller could countersue you.

Yes, you do have to watch out for that. I was thinking like you and the seller saw what I said and told me they could sue me for that...I wasn't trying to diss them but just to say how I had a bad experiance and if they got any better. Luckily they just gave me a warning. That was one of the worst mistakes I have made.

You have to be careful even if it is true.

Slander is when people lie or gossip. This is truth. Can be documented. I also have witnesses who were with my friend and heard the seller tell her the raspy nosies were nothing and they all do that. I am working in deleting my other post. However confused how we allow others to post and name people. Its just odd to me. Will do as you said and delete the other one. To bad hate to see others buy sick birds and loose their beloved flocks. I went ahead and deleted the name. I hope anyone in Norco does asking around BEFORE buying any birds.

Ok, I know you are upset about this but I am a little confused and need some things answered to clear the questions up. I know you did not purchase the birds, your friend did. I am NOT taking the seller's side at all because your friend is out 200 bucks and has dead bird(s).

But what is: "She is known in the area and will only say that" mean? Is she known for selling sick birds? What else could she be "known for?"

You also said " My friend and neighbor bought two peafowl from a local seller" If this person is Known in your area as a bad seller why did your neighbor go forward and purchase from her knowing she has sick birds?

Onthespot posted "Even without you saying who it is, I can only be about 99% sure I already know who you are talking about. Walks like a sick peafowl, gurgles like a sick peafowl, most likely it IS (was) a sick pea fowl. If it is the person I think it is, she is well known for NOT standing behind her product if it is sick or dies. Birds come and go from there like grand central and no way to know where it came from or how long she had it. She does NOT treat her birds ever, for respiratory problems. Live or die is her motto." Again, even this person knows about her but your neighbor didn't? Again why buy from this seller and take such a risk?

Again please do not get upset, I just do not understand and need to fill in some of the blanks.

My friend has not come to this forum she is new to this. So she wouldn't know of this persons past because they just moved in the area. I did not know where my friend got the birds until I told her the one appeared sick and put them in my lock down area. They never went to her property. I only today asked some locals about her, a horse trainer. She rolled her eyes. And stated shes known but not in a good way. I also am new to the area. I have lived her longer then my neighbor and friend has but not long enough to know about this person. Every time I drive by I see her selling birds. That's what I mean by shes known, if you see her house every inch of it is chickens or something. So if your new and drive by you don't think they would be sick. So peoples comments are the chicken house, you would have to see it to understand but locals would get what I mean. When I say every inch I mean every inch from back to front. I mean she can barely walk around. But never though much about her because I have never dealt with her myself. Perhaps onthespots has lived in the area longer to know the 411 so to speak. I cant explain why i was not informed of this seller prior other then it seems you shouldn't name , names here so I really would have had no way to warn my friend. Nor did I know till she came home with the peacocks. She is trusting and just did the wrong thing by thinking the seller was a honest person. I personally wish she had come here because at least from what I have seen the people here are honest and care about their birds and money second. Yes they are out to make money but they are ethical about it. My friend learned a valuable yet hurtful lesson. So it seems you cant really pre-warn anyone they kinda have to learn the hard way. I am upset because nobody likes seeing someone they care about get ripped off. This friend would take her shirt off her back for someone she didn't know. Very sweet. She also would have been a faithful customer. It was clear from what i was told and hear directly in the phone call is this seller cares very little for her birds and more about the all mighty dollar. I don't think she believed the birds would both end up at the lab waiting for results. Pity really.

Thank you for clearing up the confusion. It is very difficult not being able to name names but unfortunately what is truth to you is not to her and that is why you can't. If she were to come her and say her side then the truth can be spoken, but without that it falls into slander and the forum can suffer from it. When I was a moderator for a fish forum I too had to stop many people and remove posts that could be misled as slander. When someone gets upset they post and post not realizing that even though they might be right, it is still wrong. Yes your friend is out $200 and has one sick bird left, but he/she still has the one. I bought 3 and two arrived sick and both little ones died within 1 day of arrival but I still had the one to take care of. I didn't want it that way and I was out the money but I still had one bird who needed me. We live and learn by our mistakes and misfortunes. I would put all my anger into getting the pea back on it's feet and deal with that woman another day. The BBB is a great place to start also call the US Department of Agriculture's Veterinary Services toll free at 1-866-536-7593 to report that you got a sick and a dying bird from her and explain what happened. I do feel bad for your friend and if I had babies I would give a couple to your friend to show her not all sellers are bad. Please keep us informed on how the other peas is doing. If there is anything we can do just post it

The other pea is also at the state lab. I dont have it. We know it was respiratory. So animal control wanted to talk to my friend, because of what the illness can be. My friend told the seller to refund for the live bird, but seller wouldn't even give a inch. My friend said look either refund or they are both going into the state lab for testing. Seller said go ahead. But gave my friend the wrong street it was on. Did she do that on purpose ? That I dont know. Either way the state at this point is going to check this sellers property out. And the results whatever they maybe could get her entire flock taken away. Honestly i think the seller was nasty and did not think my friend as sweet asshe may be would do anything about it. But well I was with her today and she did. She went got papers and everything. It for her isn't about the money now. It is about the seller knowing it was sick and trying to put blame on anyone she could so she would not be liable. Any other person would have done the right thing. Seller never offered to do anything and was rather defensive from the get go. The seller knows of this group but doesn't come here , wonder why ?
