We live in SE ohio and we found an Amish man to butcher ours. I bet if you can locate some Amish that they would butcher them. Ours charges $2.00 a bird and you just drop off your chickens and some coolers with ice in them.

I think they are all the way up to $1.25 per broiler. Do a very nice job and they supply the ice. If you make arrangements well in advance (they are very, very busy) they will do them while you wait.

Lemme see- you would go south to Fredericktown then travel 127m west to the town I live in now then 14m south to Greenville and then 3m east to Kings. (I'm from Danville originally, so I know the way to and from).

Call about 2 in the afternoon and ask for Levi. He is easier to coerce into things than his mother. That would be MRS. KING the schedule enforcer.

I've been curious about this too, so I called the extension office and there is a "Plucky Poultry Processing" in Utica (Knox County -I think). They just bought the business though and won't be doing any processing until the 22nd of May or so.

BP Poultry is no longer in business. I have looked for a processor with no success unless I was to drive long distances. John

Quote:I'm in SE Indiana (30 minutes to Harrison) and have taken ours to Huismann's in Harrison. One of the above posts listed them. They do a nice job. Drop off early and pickup after 3. They will charge you extra for the boxes though, so when you call to check prices, ask about boxes & ice. We'll be doing our own from now on though. Nothing against Huismanns, we've just got over our "squeemish-ness". [IMG]

Thanks for the info. I'll probably go to Tewes in Erlanger. It's about the same distance, maybe a little closer. They said they can do 12-15 birds while I wait.

Tea Hills Poultry no longer does custom processing of any kind of poultry. Also, the number supplied above is not the correct number for Tea Hills Poultry (now Tea Hills Organic Farms). Please do not call that number.

    Thank you!
