How to tell legitimate puppy ads from scammers and puppy mill ads.

Oh, I hadn't known they started out good at all. I thought their original mission was to liberate all animals from any human interference whatsoever, and elevate animals to a status where they have rights that supersede human rights.

Their goal is to stop the breeding of any and all domestic animals, causing them to be extinct, which to them, is a fate better than living with humans... which is why they euthanize 95%+ of animals they "save".

In the past I know that some people affiliated with these " animal rights" groups have came to visit local breeders here saying they were interested in getting a puppy but just coming down to scope the place out and steel all of the breeders dogs late that night. It has happened several times around here.. a reason some people wont let you come to there house and see there dogs..

I assume they were kennels, since breaking into the inside of the house would be necessary if they weren't....which is noisy, and I'd think they'd get caught? I prefer in-home breeders. I think it's better for getting pups used to living in a house if their moms and they actually live in a house. Just my personal preference though.

On a slightly related note....people like that are the reason I carry, just to be honest.

And I thought their original purpose was anti-cruelty? Then it kind of blew up as to what "cruelty" is exactly. I dunno. They're nuts either way.

To think having a pet is cruelty is ridiculous. For example, my dog. She is the happiest thing I know (animal or otherwise). She is healthy (excepting herbspecial needs, which only affect her balance). She has cerebellar hypoplasia and would have been killed in a pack. How is that better than living with me? XD

For a legitimate working dog, yes. But most breeders are breeding for pets these days, so they need to be socialized differently, with different priorities.

Climate also changes how different dogs need to be kept. Even many large breeds can't be safely kept outside in cold temperatures because they don't have a double coat. Brachycephalic breeds or breeds with double coats shouldn't be kept outside in high temperatures.

PETA believes that pets can never truly be happy if people are in their lives. They believe the animals are mentally ill with Stolkholm syndrome (when captives fall in love with their kidnappers) or that the animals are faking affection to avoid being beaten, starved, etc.

I'm not making this stuff up, its really what they believe!
