Hubby complaining about dust...

I can't imagine. My brooder is outdoors but I had the pop door closed until 4 weeks so there was nowhere for the dust to go. And yes, I agree with those who have said it's from the feather sheaths, not the bedding. I use the same bedding for the big girls and there is nowhere near the amount of dust the four chicks produced.

Well, it isn't pretty, but it is doing the job. Not up 24 hours, and my plastic "room" is containing the chick dust. When I went in to change their water this morning I was overwhelmed by how much dust had collected already, not only on the heat lamp, but on all the surfaces and even on the walls of the plastic itself. I will have to vacuum probably twice a day. Meanwhile, I was hoping to get the sheathing up on the coop tomorrow, but now they are calling for rain and thunderstorms. I'm still going to work between the rain drops. If I had to do it all over again, or give advice to someone who wants to raise chickens, it would be to have the coop all built BEFORE the chicks arrive in the mail!
