HUGE EGG!!! PIC attached! UPDATE on WEIGHT

My poor EE layed this today on the run floor! My daughter brought it in and said it was covered in blood! Will she be OK? Why does this happen. She has only been laying for about one month. Should I do something for her?

Did you crack it open to see how many yolks it has? When my chickens were first laying is was getting triple yolkers once a week and doubles daily.

Is it OK that it caused her to bleed so much that it covered the egg??? I feel so bad for her!

She will be fine....A little blood is normal for regular sized eggs even.

Maybe this evening just take a quick peak at her vent and see if it looks prolapsed or anything. If it isn't, you should be okay

Ok Thanks. Habve seen blood on their regular eggs but this was a lot more! I will check her vent. I want to show it off before I crack it open but I'll let you know when I do!

I get that size on a regular basis, one of my "sometime" customers ask me if I lived near the nuclear power plant. I ask why, he replied the eggs my chickens lay aren't "normal" but very good. I told him no I don't live near the power plant just happy chickens.
