Huge Egg?!

If you don't wash the eggs they have a coating on them from the hen that 'seals' the egg and I have heard of people who will keep the eggs on their counter for 2+ weeks and they are fine. If you wash them you have to refrigerate them because the shell is porous and without that coating bacteria can get in.

My hens started laying about four to five weeks ago and we have had 4 doouble yokers from them. The kids found the very first one and came running and said they had a monster egg and boy was it huge!!!!

Wow! That's a big egg! Our hens have laid a lot of double yolkers but none that big. Looks like a triple to me!

I have been getting about one egg a week like that from one of the girls. They are generaly double yokers. Is this normal?

I have heard pointy side down to keep the yolk centered. I think it is more for incubation but I did it when I was using a basket. With the spiral holder I do pointy side facing in, cause that was what came with the direction.
