Humane why to kill male chicks

What is a humane why to kill the males of my sex-links when they hatch. The first batch is set to hatch this Wednesday and I already know I'm going to have a hard way selling them but don't want to raise them to slaughter when I have other breeds I already do that to.

A good sharp pair of kitchen shears can end things quickly.

For a baby chick *sigh* it may just come down to that guess I better start thinking about it more to get use to the idea

It was also suggested to me a good sharp pair of shears. She told me to set the shears in place, cover with a paper towel, and snip. Then just roll it up in the paper towel. Sad, but sometimes necessary.

Can you find any local petting zoo's or anything that will take them? This is something that should have been thought of before setting.

Grow them out, process them when they become a problem, and eat them. There is no other choice. Even if you have restrictions there is not a problem till crowing. Raised together they will be fine.

I have a few people that want one but just thinking long term seems like I'll have some good vertalizer coming my way

If you have a livestock auction close by you could always take them there and sell them.

As WVduckchick said, sharp sheers and cover with paper towel or news paper.

Yuk. I had to kill 3-4 week old chicks this winter.

Meat birds I don't mind - when it's processing time.. but the little ones I really disliked. I felt cruel and I hope I never have to do it again.

That being said, I used a sharp knife on the neck and it did the job. The key was not to think and do it fast (I mean, grab the chick from the enclosure, go wherever you plan to do it and DO IT).
My favorite was a female I thought I'd keep for eggs.
I gave her a few kisses before I had to...

I wish I had a husband or a boyfriend at times like these lol.
