hung a cabbage in the coop

The ones in my grow out coop finally tackled their cabbage head today. The big one still havent touched theirs

I use an apple corer, pushing it through from each side. Then I thread some poly cord through the hole, tie it in a loop, and hang it over a shepherd's hook in the run.

I also pull down a couple of outer leaves. Once the chickens peck at those, they get going on the whole head.

i hung another cabbage up for the flock this morning. been about two weeks since they had the last one. gives them something to do when they dont want to go outside.

its 3/4s the way gone already they worked quick on this one. lol.

my baby chicks are still pecking away at their head of cabbage i bought 3 days ago. Just wondering how long this is good for? Does cabbage go bad? Does it rot..Chicks are 4weeks now, Turkeys are the ones that have devoured most of it..now its just the pecking toy..take it out and replace it or leave til its gone?
