The projected path has been updated to a bit further west. Keeping all of you in Florida in my
I feel sorry for the people who moved to Miami for their retirement and instead of a peaceful time they're copping this :(

I know when my parents retired to Florida they expected to have to deal with hurricanes and always had an evacuation plan.

Praying for all of you in Texas...hopefully recovery will be swift, though I know back breaking. It is good to see the people pull together. Texans are like that :)

and now Irma and Florida...praying it will turn back out to sea and stay there.

And send some prayers up for Oregon....Texas drowns, while Oregon burns.

I've forgotten how many major fires we've got in forests right now. Our closest one came horrifically close to our east metro area.

We are praying for rain to put out the Eagle Creek fire...winds have shifted so the historic lodge was saved and our beloved Multnomah Falls.

Days of ash though are making air quality horrible. (My asthma is finally kicking in...sigh.) Birds seem to be doing okay. Don't know when east county folk will make it back to their lands...most around the gorge are in shelters with their animals.

Crazy, crazy disasters right now.

Those fires are horrible. I know we here in Kansas City area had smoke and ash from them this week.. Usually until winter we don't get winds from the NW, we did this week. Be careful with your asthma. Even one day with the long distance smoke in the air mine was acting up.

Speaking of Harvey, how are you and your neighbors doing? Did you get your property cleaned up?
I am good.
My neighborhood is a mess.
All the houses still have mountains of trash in their front yards.
Who knows when the city will get around to picking it up.
I think they are taking their time because insurance adjusters have to "see" everything first.
Entire house contents out for trash. It's pretty sad to see.

Thank you.
It's horrible here, and way worse on east side. We were suppose to have 100 degree weather, but the smoke cover is so thick, it's as if we have rain clouds above. Everything is grey all day long.

Ash and grit cover the cars, our eyes itch and faces burn.

I don't know what to do for the bird other than try to give them fresh water regularly as it goops up.

And I'm on the westside...I'm not even east county where it is terrible.

Hopefully rain comes in tonight and flushes the air and stops the fire.

We are told to stay inside and run our air conditioners to purify the air as best we can...only many don't own air conditioners in Oregon as often summers don't get that hot.

Crazy, crazy weather.

We got smoke down here in southern Colorado too. My friend in Phoenix says it's the same. Usually we can see all the way across the valley (about 50 miles), but the last few day we can't even see that the valley exists. Just a big white wall of smoke.

I may be wrong but I don't think Miami is where the old folks retire to.
All my information comes from TV :D Jerry Seinfeld's parents moved to Miami, I think.
Other areas can be affected by these weather events but in comparison to those in the direct firing line those less badly affected can't really complain too much. We had a cyclone once that came south and it made a lot of rain and the sea came up higher. There were a lot of insurance claims out of it, even though it wasn't a "full-on" cyclone hitting. Other areas will no doubt be affected by high rainfall, higher winds associated with this, even when they aren't in the main path of the serious event.
