Thank you.
It's horrible here, and way worse on east side. We were suppose to have 100 degree weather, but the smoke cover is so thick, it's as if we have rain clouds above. Everything is grey all day long.

Ash and grit cover the cars, our eyes itch and faces burn.

I don't know what to do for the bird other than try to give them fresh water regularly as it goops up.

And I'm on the westside...I'm not even east county where it is terrible.

Hopefully rain comes in tonight and flushes the air and stops the fire.

We are told to stay inside and run our air conditioners to purify the air as best we can...only many don't own air conditioners in Oregon as often summers don't get that hot.

Crazy, crazy weather.

I'm 150 miles down river. Air quality has been pretty terrible, a light coating of ash on everything. We've had a few sprinkles today, but not nearly enough clean the air or saturate the ground. Praying the lightning stays offshore tonight.

It doesn't have to be a hurricane for it negatively affect us. Just the rain alone can cause widespread flooding. People in the town near me are really concerned as it flooded the Potomac River where water went to the top (and over) several of the buildings. WV has suffered several deaths due to rain from storms long gone - even just last year.

So still going to duck  while we wait to see what closer projections will be.
you are so right, just need to stay aware and please be safe.

yes...we are suppose to have potential of thunder/lightening at the beginning of this system...which would be bad news.

That's right...you are in Long Beach....love the beach up there!

Seaside (OR) and Long Beach (WA) are two of my favorite beach trips :D

Wow...that smoke is traveling far. It's made everyone miserable all along the gorge area.

I am good.
My neighborhood is a mess.
All the houses still have mountains of trash in their front yards.
Who knows when the city will get around to picking it up.
I think they are taking their time because insurance adjusters have to "see" everything first.
Entire house contents out for trash. It's pretty sad to see.
This is the depressing part, when you realize how bad it really is. This is why I keep posting that we are with all of you, and reminding you that we are sending help and prayers to all who are experiencing natural disasters now. You will have to remind yourself that others reconize how important you are. We are not giving up on you, do not give up on yourselves.

Fire danger on the peninsula right now is critical. It's miles of parched forest and dune grass out here. I've got bags packed just in case. No way I'll be able to get all the chickens and rabbits out of harm's way though.

Junebuggena, do what you can and stay safe. Earlier natural disaster tip, may help you as well, we keep all important papers in a three ring binder. So you can just grab it and go, giving you more time to do whatever else you need to take care of. Good luck and know prayers and thoughts are with you.

I know what that's like...I'm closer in now, but years lived in forest land with an eye on the fire watch..my dad's ranch was nearly taken by the Biscuit Fire about a decade ago. The national guard kindly took care of some life stock for us while we evacuated him.

Praying for soft gentle rains soon....for everyone.
