Wigwam Stores Inc. Wigwam Stores Inc. was an American chain of discount department stores that was based in Seattle and operated across five states: Washington, Hawaii, Oregon, California and Arizona. The discount department store was a fairly new concept when Wigwam's first store opened in 1946.

we would call them cheepe teepee

we also had woolworths

Wigwam is probably like our Sheetz stores or the Racetracks in Fl. Regional in most cases - which means I have never heard of Wigwam. lolol

it was started back in 46 I was born in 1960 and they were still around we have jc penney sears still in Malls

Unfortunately, even here is starting to change. Quick news blurb on TV moments ago from Hagerstown was "19 stolen guns" - not sure if found or what. But the murder rate is also higher. I think still under 10 though.

that would scare me, where we live we do not even lock the house when we live do not need to

Did you know that "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" is a Montgomery Ward's creation?

think I was told that like when I was like 40

It's all of us in this together.
Hit it, Ben

I thought Pasadena was in California...

Florida was the only place I lived that had it's own section in the newspaper to list crimes.
They had that in the newspaper when I went to Tasmania. It was funny though because it was things like "somebody's garden gnome was taken", really low level offences compared to other places.

Naw - though I am sure there was low level stuff. but robberies, burglaries, rapes, murders - all the maim and mayhem stuff.

Not too much in the way of major crimes here, but I guess drugs are a problem. Our WalMart is safe to go to and is open all night.

Many people here don't lock their doors either, nor their car doors, but have heard of some cars in town getting broken into.

When I bought this house, about 5 years ago (3 years before I retired) all of the doors still had the old skeleton keys. Even though I am in a rural area a few miles from town, I am right on the main highway, so put regular door locks on.

Oh, for whomever asked about what to do with leftover chicken: make a stir fry -- it's a great way to use up leftover meat and veggies, chicken shish-ka-bobs, fettucini, and as Ursuline Chick said -- chicken tacos. I like chicken street tacos. Cook the chicken with bell pepper, onion, cumin, garlic, salt & pepper and put in a hot steamed corn tortilla. Top it with Pico de Gallo (minced onion, tomato, jalapeno), a good squeeze of lime, a pile of cilantro and if so inclined a little avocado or sour cream.

Ha...crime...Delaware - highest murder rate per capita (at least last I heard....I'm afraid to look it up so whoever mentioned Chicago now has that title.....) :barnie
Some places are very uncomfortable to be - which is sad. Double locked doors around here, car alarms, pepper spray in purse. I live in a quiet neighborhood but my hubby informed me that prior to me moving in...the house was broken into and many of his computer items stolen. I know my car has been broken into twice in my own driveway...not that I leave anything in there but they did take a pair of Coach sunglasses...which pissed me off. The inner city (Wilmington) is a whole different beast.
