I'll throw in a vote for your side... I used to like to play in it but not so much anymore. Actually tried to convince DW to let us retire in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Her response was

HAVE to get fresh from a Polish butcher!!! Store bought/grocery bought....
My grandmother and mother boiled peirogis and they were horrible! Hubby pan fries them with either onion or kraut....

I make them with a kraut beef mixture, or a kraut smoked kielbasa mixture. And for the girls, not liking the kraut... the like the kielbasa with onion.

Oh, and always fried. Of course! My pierogies that is... lol

I have actually never liked potato in my pierogi. So, I skip. My family made me make potatoe and onion the last time I decided to make a batch... they were alright, but the meat ones went first.
