I'm thinking a food processor would make my kitchen work much easier right about now.
This is the only time of year I think about getting one.
I might just have to finally break down and get one, especially if I ever plan on learning to bake huh?
They're great! How have you survived without one?

Pumpkin soup turned out VERY much like the Butternut squash version. This hen was more easy to chew than the last one. Cooked a bit slower without trying to brown the skin. Good flavor. Basically made the broth in the soup pot. It went down very nicely!

I made soup Kiki. Not stew. The pumpkin is beginning to thicken the broth a bit but not like stew. I like chunky soups too. The creamy stuff is reserved for someone else to serve to me.

Crazy Lady and son aren't committing to liking it or not. I told them they better like it since we have a bit to eat! Might need a larger steamer pot. First 18" diameter pumpkin's second batch in steamer. Looks like an hour per batch to steam. I *thought* it would be cooler this weekend and need the heat in the house. Nope, AC running full tilt.

Does anyone dewater their pumpkin before freezing? One of the utubers dewatered his pumpkin mash. Interesting and decreases the mass, but I imagine a lot of the flavor and goodies leave with the water.

I got one year before last for Christmas (they can be pricey) but man am I glad I have one now. It's amazing what you can do with those things that you can't with a blender.

What would you use a food processor for? I still have one in the box that I haven't found a need for. Although guacamole is a good reason. Gets the onion nice and pulverized.
I like my guacamole chunky! lol

For pureeing pumpkin!

I just did a Kiki experiment.
I found an ice tray...it hold right at two cups of water. (16 little slots)
Could I freeze two cups of pumpkin at a time then freeze it?

Yes. Or put it in 1 quart bags and freeze. To use, peel the bag off and presto!

Another thought, since sweet taters are used to make "pumpkin" pie, can I use pumpkin mash to make candied sweet taters? Enough sugar and cinnamon, who can tell the difference?
