Great point. I recall the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan in '04. It was this time of year, and it was around December/January before most of the trash and debris were picked up. It will take a while!

I actually thought these would be fighting roosters.... I didn't realize they were a wild/feral breed down in the Keys. I stand corrected!!
No way to know Aart, but the wild ones seem to predominantly be male, so they might be feral. They are funny to watch - top rooster is very jealous and guards his "women" with a keen eye!
I read the article about the wrapped roosters in the Keys a couple days ago. I believe those were feral roosters someone was trying to save.
People were saying they needed to be saved and others said those roosters and hens had been around forever and through many hurricanes.
I'm sure there are losses when the weather is like it is right now, but apparently enough survive to keep breeding.
Personally, I think it's a good idea and glad someone thought they were worth saving. Hope they had some hens, too.

'Saving' them questionable IMO.
But wrapping them like that, smh, tho I'm sure it is an easy and effective way to restrain them for transport, I would be seriously concerned about them overheating and being able to breathe if tape is too tight for rib expansion...not to mention the poop!
My Sister in law just posted on Facebook, it's pour in down rain in Bend Oregon! Hopefully the rain is covering a big area out there.
We talked to my mother in law this morning in Florida. She's confident that she will be fine andvhas no plans of evacuating. Seeing the new projected course of the storm makes me nervous though. She's about 30 miles inland from St Augustine.

I do agree, but understand why someone thought they needed to try.
Supposedly, they were only going to be contained like that for a few hours. Yet, since so many roads are now almost in gridlock, that could be questionable. Of course, this was a couple days ago (I think), so they may have been able to get out of the area pretty quickly.
A lot of stories about people trying to find help to save their animals to the ones like the guy who put his most important chickens in mesh bags to hang from rafters in his barn.
People will do anything to try and save their pets or livestock. Even if uncomfortable for awhile.
I had pet carriers to put my ferrets in if there was ever a reason to leave the house in a hurry. When our house caught fire, there was NO time to stop and transfer ferrets from cage to carriers. I just dragged the entire Ferret Nation cage out the back door. As it turned out, the fire was so close, it burned one of the hanging "pocket keepers" on the back side of the cage. Taking it out the kitchen door broke off all but one of the caster wheels.
But I got all eight of them outside.

Dear Lord, I just saw a video on CNN where some people in Key Largo are planning to ride out Irma in their sail boats.... What are they thinking?????
My husband saw a guy on his sailing forum talking about tying down his catamaran; he was like, "dude, have you any idea what kind of wind you are facing? If that cat catches any wind at all, it'll take whatever you tied it to with it!"
