Ok, so off topics, but we have a squirrel problem in our neighborhood. Three people are being teated for rabies, because they have been attacked by squirrels. Noon news interviewed a man who said, a squirrel had jumped from a tree on to his back, at which point the man knocked the squirrel off of him to the ground. The squirrel then ran back toward him and began bitting his leg!!! This has happened to 2 other people that we know of so far. I think the whole world is going crazy. The city is trying to trap squirrels in the area to test them and find out what is going on to cause these squirrels to attack.

Wow, that's realy crazy! Keep us posted on how that turns out!

 O my!
I'd bust out the pellet gun!

Thank you for doing an important and thankless job. Bet it keeps Florida's recidivism rate a little lower! Wow, I truely am impressed.
Thank you. I am 34 years into teaching - 14 in the public school system with self-contained special education students, and 20 with these guys. Most of them are polite and respectful, but you get some who are real jerks and I have to put them in their places. Had a few sent of to segregation too, just so that they know who is boss! I love my job, though, and would not trade it for the world! My chickens are my de-stressing time.

The number of squirrel attacks is up to six now, this is on the evening local news!! not a joke, had to talk to my daughter about what to do it a squirrel starts to come toward her.
 Remember that Hitchcock movie The Birds? This sounds just as scary - Mad Squirrel Disease?

Did they trap 3 crazy ones or just any three?

Things you never knew about squirrels....

From the CDC:
"Small mammals such as squirrels, rats, mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, chipmunks, rabbits, and hares are almost never found to be infected with rabies and have not been known to cause rabies among humans in the United States. Bites by these animals are usually not considered a risk of rabies unless the animal was sick or behaving in any unusual manner and rabies is widespread in your area."

From Critter Control:
"Squirrels carry many diseases communicable to humans. Though different species are capable of transmitting different diseases, some of the common illnesses passed on by squirrels include plague, Colorado tick fever, encephalitis, tularemia, and louse-borne typhus."
