Wait what's wrong with living around a bunch of seniors? I wish we had a few more seniors in our neighborhood, like we did pre Katrina, kept the kids in line a little more.. Of course, I am a senior so I guess I am sort of biased.

I was wondering if she was a care taker or a worker woman at a "place" for seniors or if she was one of those seniors.

Haha they aren't technically my seniors! They are residents of a private care/palliative care senior living center. I worked there for fifteen years and this year I've been volunteering my weekends doing animal therapy. I've been taking my girls but they're becoming women so for a couple of months a couple of us have been busting our humps to get the seniors some chickens of their very own. Im still going to visit on the weekends to check on things I can't abandon my oldsters.

What a wonderful thing to do, probably means more to them than you will ever know. God bless you for your kindness! So many older people in living centers get very few visitors, they probably really look forward to your visits. And for some reason they all seem to love chickens. When I still had my roo, I would bring a dozen eggs to an 80 year old neighbor once a week, but I had to bring the roo as well for a visit! When she was placed in senior living, she wanted to see the roo before she left. So we went down to her house for a visit before she left. Saddly she passed not too long after.

Geez, with Jose, Lee, and ("Maria, it'll soon be a storm named Maria") to keep an eye on, I'm beginning to feel a bit dizzy.

Chickens - folks love 'em or hate 'em. I worried that my neighbors might have a problem with my roo's, but when the subject has come up with my nearest neighbors, they have said things like, "not a problem at all, it takes me back to my childhood." And when BB2K took a Serama roo along on an Easter event, he was as much of a hit as the bunnies, chicks and pony!
