This is why the hubby cooks and not me....I would knife myself trying to do that (but I am impressed with that video!). I had a very prissy mother....would never let me in the kitchen. I'm lucky if I don't set boiled water on fire. Yes....I'm the gal who will stick metal in the microwave and then realize "oops"...after it's sparking and on fire.

I'm apparently "Grampy" He was cooking pork chops adn mushroom gravy. and she's still offering an opinion.
My first husband's grandfather was Grampy and he was was one of the sweetest, kindest men I have ever met. Brings back fond memories. As to your granddaughter, of courses "she" is offering an opinion, she will offer an opinion on food prep for the next 90 or so years!:thumbsup

My BFF only buys boneless skinless chicken breast from the store.
It drives me nuts.
No matter how many times I have showed her and told her how much cheaper it is do do this herself she does not listen.
She is a dork.
While our daughters know how to cut up birds, they are now citified and buy cut up bird parts...breasts, drumsticks and thighs....because they don't want to spend the time making broth from the bony sections. Where did my teaching go wrong. They love my chicken and noodles.

I'm no where near my mentor... he can breakdown a chicken consistently at 1.11 minutes. I take at least three. ... Now gizzards are a whole different story... I can do two per minute, ... If you want to see a pro break down a chicken, here ya go...
Daniel parting a chicken... I've watched him first hand and can only say, one day I might get there.
I don't have a plucker and butcher in a cone. Some I pluck for roasting but most I skin and can the meat. I make broth from the bony parts and can that too. Livers are packaged and frozen. Hearts and gizzards are packaged together and frozen. I can do three gizzards a minute....because that is hubby's favorite piece.

I want that guy's knife!!!!
Me too! I have one similar. I keep a whetstone handy to sharpen my knives before starting.

I had made a cone out of one of those orange cones they use to block streets. The city left it in front of my house after some minor street work. After no one came to pick it up, I cut the narrow end to the size I wanted. Didn't cost me a penny, just a few min. of work.
I just use a boning knife that came with the set I bought after the storm. Always sharpen the knife I am going to use, makes things so much easier. Taught this to my daughter as well, you are actually less likely to cut yourself with a sharp knife than with a dull one. But I am interested in the glove!

I couldn't agree more!

Good pots and good knifes are a must in a kitchen.
Until Katrina I had the same pots for 30 years and had no intention of ever replacing them. I am okay with the ones I have now, just don't have as many yet, had hubby get me a double boiler 3 years ago as one of my birthday gifts. LOL Never thought I would ask for a kitchen gaget or appliance as a gift until after Katrina, funny how things change.;) ( I really like this emoji thing, thanks Kiki)
