Hurt Chicken

Welcome!

Do the other chickens excessively pick on her? If not and her bum leg doesn't seem to bother her or prevent her from enjoying life I wouldn't worry about it. She's laying eggs, not seeming stressed... I'd say she's still enjoying a chicken life other hens' would be jealous of

Give yourselves kudos too. Love really does help animals get better just like people. You must be some mama!
Thank you!

Yes they do, and that scares her and makes her run. She limps very heavily and needs to use her wing to balance herself. Sometimes she falls over and can't get back up.

Yes- I love her a lot! ❤️

Could a see a picture of both legs next to each other and a couple different angled shots of just the injured leg? I don't want to say anything definite until I see it.

AidKD, by the way, I love Hebrews 12:1-2! :yesss:
I've loved those verses ever since I was little! They've remained my favorite to this day!

I wonder if it could be dislocated. Does she act like she's in pain when she walks or runs or when you try to move it?

Wow that's amazing!

That's what I have been wondering for a while. It seems like she is in pain, except when I put her on aspirin, which I have been doing. About a month ago, she was super bad, and was breathing heavily and had no appetite and almost couldn't move.

Forgot to add that I moved her to another space in my basement, and she is doing much better concerning those things- but yeah, I am very concerned about her leg still.

So it sounds like the best you've been able to do for her is numb the pain. Poor girl! Can I see a picture of the joint and a couple of the full leg? I'm thinking the best thing would be trying to build strength back up in the leg through exercises and supplements, but first you'd have to fix the dislocation issue which I think could be helped with the strength supplements.
