He is so cute. Great size pony. His weight is not good but it's not that bad. I have had much worse. You will have him looking great in no time and he is lucky to have you.

cute guy!! his hernia is about the same size of a one that my gramas mare had. she lived for 10 years plus with it and was ridden in just about every class under the sun.

Shadowpaints, thanks for the encouragement. That is great news for Hutch.

I really think he is a cute boy... I need to get some good shots with his new halter.

He's starting to be a little less ridiculous about the grass. Before, when I would lead him, he would be obsessed but now he leads much easier. We've been letting him out a bit more each day and I guess now he knows he can just get some later... it'll be there. I may get Wyatt up on him for a little lesson this weekend

He's got a kind eye and nice legs. That hernia ain't that bad. Should be fine unless it suddenly increases in size. He'll give your kids many good memories.

Hutch is in WAYY better shape than I'd thought. He looks MUCH better than the two mares we rescued a few years back. They were very bonded, and passed within months of each other. What I see there is a happy horse, albeit thin, who will fill out nicely and provide many years of entertainment for the wee ones. Blondie was 22 when we got her, and Waitsfield was 20. They were 26 and 24 when they passed, and we lost Waitsfield thanksgiving last year to colic (I wasn't home neighbors thought she was just rolling to roll). Blondie went around Valentines, we believe over grief.

But Hutch looks great in comparison to them upon arrival. Blondie was 9 months pregnant and looked like him... To give you an idea. Both pulled through and were pasture pals their last few years. I bet Hutch will surprise you with another 10-15 and all of that he will be a companion to some VERY lucky kids.

To me, it's the rescues and horses in need that I love. They seem to understand what can happen to them and soak up everything they get. Blondie was an awesome rider, once back in shape, and gave my nephew a horse that none could compare to. Which is why I think Hutch will stay like he is, he looks "all knowing" so to speak. (Waitsfield had navicular when she arrived and we were always fearful to ride her so never did)
