Hutch the Halfie **The Last Chapter on Pg. 18**

I think what Slackwater's trying to say is "It's not what you say-it's how you say it". And I totally agree. I've got a pasture horse myself. She can no longer be ridden, but has brought so much joy to our lives-especially my 8-year old's. She's 36, and I dread the day she leaves us. Yes, she takes a little more care than my other horses, but when I see Zoe with her-on a lead grazing, or brushing her, and just talking to her-it warms my heart. This horse has become her best friend over the past few years. I'd spend thousands on that horse if I could keep her around another 20 years.

I too, applaud Erin for taking this on. She's got a big heart...

That would be a really broad term. I would consider my son an experienced horse person. He has been thrown by more horses than most people on this board have ridden. Would you want to take his advice? Probably not, he is 12....Insert " people who think they know everything about horses and everyone else should listen to them" in place of "experienced horse people". I always get the feeling that "experienced horse people" in general, couldn't ride a 3 year old green philly and are more than happy to tell you "why you shouldn't either because it is somehow unsafe or cruel to the horse because you don't feed it properly or provide the right vet care or whatever" ...If the OP has given a horse a better place to live and is caring for him as best she can, then I say he is better off....but what would I know...guess We might have to ask the horse

ANYWAY....BACK TO THE HORSE: To help age the gelding one might google, 'Galvane's Groove'. No, not a new dance move but a possible indicator of age. Once this horse owner gets her camera up to par we can challenge her photography skills by asking her to take the appropriate photos of her fellow's teeth.

Bless his heart-he's finally got an owner who doesn't want to throw him away. I'd donate some hay if she lived close enough.

OMG. Whoever starved that horse needs to be flogged publicly. I don't care if you don't have the money to feed it and use that for the excuse...

Bless you for taking him!

He's a very kind-looking, handsome old boy

Thank you so much for helping him out. He looks grateful already.
