anyone else heard of it. I tried it today and it totally works! hahah
What turning your chicken on it's back?
yeah, it works. Purple Chicken had a thread this summer about it, and it provoked many of us to run to our coops to flip our girls onto their backs in undignified positions.
DBF freaked when I did it to our banty. He has a special spot in his heart for her, so to see her on her back really bothered him. She stayed that way longer than any of our other girls!!
im the only one it didnt work for!
I've been doing it to our chickens since they were days old. It helps when you have to treat pasty butt, or when hannibal the cannibal tries to peck the daylights outta me.
hahah yep. I had about 5 of them all lined up just laying there. People that have never delt with chickens get a kick out of it!
Not to be gross but has anyone tried this as a way to slaughter? So that the chicken is not completely stressed before the chopping happens? I have never done it but a friend was describing it to me and it sounds like it could work.......
Well, I have noticed that if the chicken is already freaking out putting them on their back doesn't really help. they need to be fairly calm to start with.
i dont cull. my chickens are strictly for egg purposes.
Kesta - it worked better for some of my girls than for others.
