Hypothermic Chicken - Need Help!

Thanks everyone for your help and humanity. Ray has passed. I'll miss him.

I should have known about the weather last night and has him inside. I recently just read about chickens and the cold so I do know these things. I'm a city girl who's now living in the country and learning but I hate to learn the hard way! I'll be putting a heat light tonight in their coop in case the others want or need it. Thanks again for the advice and it feels nice that people were willing to help us in a dire situation.

If I knew how to share his photo I would just to honor him. He's on the about us page on my website junebugranch.com if anyone is interested.

Thanks again and I'll make sure I post again and pay it forward to someone else.

i'm so sorry about your little guy. Sounds like he had a lot going against him. It also sounds like you did a lot for him. Please don't feel bad. It may have been more than the coldness that caused this. He could have had issues with that brain thing you mentioned, being a bit retarded. Perhaps he had a stroke?

In any case, i am truly sorry for your loss.

:aww I just saw this
For any bird the golden rule is:
Warm the bird up first before administering (lukewarm) fluids (lectrolytes>not sugar water) > never hydrate a cold bird until it is warmed up and never feed a dehydrated bird.
Warm slowly (an incubator is an excellent "warmer-upper")
