Well, I thought I knew a smidgen about sexing chickens but I am now questioning everything lol. I have 4 olive eggers. I was told by this breeder that they were all F3 olive eggers. But truly.... I have no idea lol. I bought them straight run and originally had 7. 3 of which I had already conquered were Roos and have found them homes. I kept these 4 with high hopes that they were pullets and now I have nothing but questions and scratching my head. I have checked all of them closely and none have any pointy hackle or saddle feathers ( I know one of them looks like it in the pictures but it is just the coloring ) the combs are absolutely baffling because they do have some color but are non existent? I have one that is popping up a little....but no 3 ridge pea comb? I will do my best to explain....

OE: 1- hatched January 20th, actually witnessed an egg song coming from this one today. Largest in the group.
OE:2 - hatched January 20th, this is the one I feel the most certain is a pullet for various reasons but still unsure.
OE:3 hatched February 12th, has a more developed comb than all the others, but still light pinkish?
OE: 4 hatched February 12th. Definitely has some color in the comb area but no comb to speak of?
My fear is these guys are Roos. I cannot have Roos where I live. I bought 7 originally....if my assumptions are correct that would mean I would only have 1 pullet out of 7......6 being Roos. 🥴😩
Do you guys have any input here? My eyebrow is raised EVERYTIME I walk out to the coop. Lol 😆

well to me it's 1 that looks female while oe 2 & 3 look suspicious but they are still too young to tell so I am wondering if you gave away 3 pullets as they were too young to tell and kept all the males 😄 ?

Hahaha now wouldn’t that just be something eh? Lol I’m actually VERY sure those 3 were males because 2 of the combs were huge single combs and red starting at around 4 weeks and one had a very deep red, large pea comb. They were all “big for their age” too. I didn’t have the suspicion on these guys like I do now because as soon as I put them into the run with all my other ladies, boom....they started turning red in the face which makes me think their hormones are raging from all the women they are around now lol 😂

4 is the only one that looks suspicious to me, but I wouldn't be shocked by 1 and 3. You can always keep them until it's obvious they're cockerels. That's what I do, but I also raise for meat so if I can't keep them or rehome them I have a quick solution. 😅

Is that right? Huh..... well 1 is the same age as 2.....( 13 weeks ) but 1 is far larger than 2 and probably acts the most aggressive and assertive out of the bunch. Which tipped me off that 1 is most likely a rooster. 2 is just smaller than 1, not as thick legs and very calm/docile. 2 is actually the same size as 3 and 3 is 21 days behind 2 in age.
3 and 4 are both the same age ( nearly 10 weeks ) 3 actually has a larger comb than all of them that is developing color ( keep in mind this one is the same size as the suspected pullet OE: 2 and 21 days behind in age )
4 is a wild card....lol.... walks very tall and upright, is not yet 10 weeks old and SUPER red in the face.... which leads me to believe that this guy too is a rooster 🥴

sorry, that is probably so confusing. But just in case there are any others out there with questions and are reading the threads like I do to try and gain some more insight, I wanted to explain what I knew about them.
Also.... for whatever reason 1 and 4 seem to be the most brave. All 4 were added into the flock together and we all know what the pecking order situation looks like. My girls pick on all of them trying to establish their place but 1 and 4 seem to hold their ground and venture out more than the suspected pullet ( OE 2 ) and OE 3. Which 1 and 4 are also the ones with the most coloring in their faces which leads me to believe they are trying to assert their dominance and or hormones are just raging being around all the ladies. None of them had any color at all in their combs until I added them into the flock a week ago. Out of nowhere, boom, red faces and a comb popping up... lol...
again sorry so long winded and all over the board. Just wanted to explain my observations.

Wanted to post a picture in some more lighting to show you guys the boys. I think I have found them homes. So I got them all wrangled up.
