oooh..now THAT would suck for me... I have 5 cats..

I know what you mean. We have 7, plus the 2 the neighbors left when they moved!

I have lots of cats...they all have collars with ID tags...we dont have to license in the country. They dont go outside anyhow...LOL--the one that is out has no collar only a microchip. Terri O

Few states allow IMRAB to be given by non-licensed people. They say it is for safety reasons, but that doesn't make any sense. It's a killed virus. Not even vets use a live or ML virus because it is zoonotic. I can understand how dangerous a live rabies virus would be, but a killed one?

This law dates back to when rabies was a serious health hazard to the public. Remember "Old Yeller" and the part in To Kill A Mocking Bird. There for awhile seeing a rabid dog wasn't all that uncommon so they enacted laws to help protect the public. Is it a pain in the rear now. Yes. If it wasn't law how many more people (than already don't) wouldn't get their dogs vaccinated?

Oh ya wanted to add where I used to live they charged $5 for altered cats and dogs, $150 for Unaltered animals and then you are only allowed 1 unaltered animal. Senior citizens are free and if the animal is microchiped and altered you could buy a lifetime tag for $30. There was also a limit of 4 dogs and a grand total of 7 animals cats/dogs/ferrets.

I would see if a dear friend or neighbor would let me license the dog in their name and address.

If anybody ever shows up and counts - - -

They are all licensed and one belongs somewhere else - - - you are just dog sitting for a dear friend who is on vacation for a couple of weeks. End of inspection and story ! !

Not true I have seen the damage roaming cats have done to another neighbors dog in his own yard and to the neighbor. Now the victim neighbor no longer calls animal control,he was told cats do not have to follow the same rules as dogs because they are presumed less harmful so now he just SSS.

Might want to see if your mother could get a license for your rat terrier in her name. Do people actually check to see how many dogs someone has to make sure they aren't trying to own some that aren't licensed?
