Welcome to the wonderful stressful world of hatching. I'm not sure why we put ourselves though this, but we do. Not only that, but we continue to do it over and over again, about every 3 weeks or so. I think it might be some inner guilt that we feel we need to punish ourselves.

Update: I now have 6 eggs pipped. a little more action going on than before. I hope to have at least one hatch out by bedtime. i won't be able to go to work tomorrow if I know they will be hatching.

By the way I will be doing this again in 1 week due to a staggered hatch...and I just recieved my Maran eggs in the mail today so looks like i'll be at it again in 3 weeks..... somebody stop me pleaseeeeeeeee.

Whooooo hooooo....I have 2 fuzzy but so far

7 still pipped and 5 with nothing. The first one to pip with the dime sized hole is still not making progress...I really hope its ok. Keeps peeking out though so not doing anything. It has been pipped 24 hours already.

I hope I get to see the next one hatch because the 2 chicks I have so far had hatched while I was out shopping.

How long should you wait before intervention. I have a bad feeling about the first pipper. Its still peeking out now and then but I think its stuck upsidedown. Is it common for them to "pant" It seems to be panting or gasping. It will sit there for periods of time opening and closing its mouth and then keeps it open for a long time. 25 hours since its first pip and hole is still barely dime size. Do you let it go 48 hours? I don't really want to open the bator unless I need to. i just don't know if i need too.

Update: We have 4 hatched so far. i am hoping a couple more by morning since they have started to pip a bit more. I hate to say this but I think I am 2 male and 2 female so far lol. I hope I am wrong about the roos. But there are 2 with bigger combs and 1 with REALY big feet... lmao

Going to bed hope the 1st pipper make it out by morning. Seems to be active in the shell.

I hate to tell ppl to help. It is such an iffy thing. Only you can decide what needs to be done. If you decide to help go very slow and chip away only a tiny bit of shell. If you see blood stop and don't do any more.
