There is a finch that always comes to mine trying to get in the cage. It's quite friendly whenever i comr outisde as it doesn't bother flying away. I decided to make a trap to see if it was one of mine who escaped or a wild one. How could i tell?

Love your coat hanger perch! That's a great idea! If it's that tame I'd say it's an escaped one. Wild raised birds are very skittish around humans and you'd have to work pretty hard bribing a wild bird with food before you could even look straight at it without it freaking out and flying away. It's possibly been trying to get to your ones food as escapees don't know how to find food for themselves in the wild and generally don't live very long. I'm glad you've caught it (whether it's yours or whether it's an escapee from someone else's aviary/home).

Did this work?
